Raging Rumor: Twilight Sucks
All headline punning aside, supposedly the movie is pretty bad. I was in a room full of movie critics today who saw a screening of Twilight yesterday and the popular consensus was brutal: “It was like a bad CW pilot that never should have made it to air. And Kristen Stewart? I liked her in other stuff, but she was the worst part of the movie. Robert Pattinson wasn’t too bad, though.”
Ouch!
We're betting it’ll still make serious bank at the box office, though.
Ok, let's tango. So boys, last time I visited-we chatted about "Twilight," especially how we were not too keen to start the series since the last book got reviews that stank worse than Amy Winehouse's breath. I have since started the series and and almost done with the last novel. The books are too long and Meyer's is NOT a good storyteller. Also, her editor needs to be a ton more assertive and push back a little and not be afraid to cut a bitch with his/her red pen. But yet, I still read them. I just have to find out what happens. The literary snob in me wants to dismiss the books entirely but the teenage girl in me simply wants to bang Edward. I feel like the film will go the same way--it will be fine, like the books are fine, technically speaking. I don't think the film (and I have also read) will resonate with folks not enamored with the books. Obvi, I already have my ticket for 'Twilight' but my reccomendation is to stay home and watch "True Blood" instead.
Kisses,
Michael

Yeah, so the full disclosure here is that all the press coverage of this thing (how many "Entertainment Weekly" covers were there? how many Perez posts?) finally got me to pick up the paperback of "Twilight" and, while it's clearly no literary masterpiece, it's a lot of fun. It's the perfect airplane read, you know?
Anyway, so I got tickets with my friends before the reviews started trickling in (and trickling blood all over the movie) but, you know, we'll go see it and have a good giggle and assess Robert Patty for ourselves and whatever. Might as well, right? Why not.
We're considering a drinking game, too: Every time there's an incidence of restrained sexuality in the movie you have to take a shot. I'm sure we'll be blasted shortly after the previews finish. ;)
